Wind Mitigation Inspection in South Florida
If you own a home in South Florida, a wind mitigation inspection is one of the fastest ways to lower your homeowners insurance premium. Florida insurers are required to give credits for homes built or upgraded to resist hurricane-force winds — but you only get those credits if a licensed inspector documents them on the state's official form.

What do you receive after the inspection?
The inspector will provide you with a report Form OIR-B1-1802 with clear photos and easy-to-understand findings you can hand straight to your insurance agent to claim your credits — delivered within 24 hours. Form OIR-B1-1802 is the Uniform Inspection Form used by every insurance company in Florida. It records seven key features: roof covering, roof deck attachment, roof-to-wall connection, roof geometry, secondary water resistance, opening protection, and roof age. Each feature can qualify you for a separate premium discount.
How much can it save you?
Savings depend on your home's construction, but roof-to-wall connections and impact-rated openings often produce the largest credits. Many South Florida homeowners recover the cost of the inspection many times over in the first year.
